DIRT FARMER INDUSTRIES

About Us
unconventionally practical design
At Dirt Farmer Industries, LLC, we’re not your average 3D printing shop. We’re makers, tinkerers, and eccentric problem-solvers who thrive on blending practicality with creativity. Whether it’s making something totally unique or fine-tuning machines to run at their best, we’re all about functional design with a quirky aesthetic.
We specialize in real-world applications of 3D printing and laser engraving, crafting everything from custom trophies for axe-throwing tournaments to hand-finished, woodland-inspired candlestick holders. We’ve designed precision axe-throwing target stencils, coin-holding keychains, and even Ghostbusters-inspired mod kits—always balancing function with a bit of flair. Our laser-engraved cutting boards bring a touch of fan-fun craftsmanship to any kitchen, making great gifts or statement pieces that blend artistry with everyday utility.
Beyond creating, we’re committed to helping others master 3D printing. We offer hands-on training, printer maintenance, and optimization services, working with small businesses and makers to keep their machines running smoothly. Whether you need to dial in your prints, troubleshoot issues, or get expert guidance on materials, we focus on practical solutions, not just theory.
At the end of the day, we believe practical doesn’t have to be boring. We embrace the weird, the offbeat, and the unexpected—while making sure everything we create is built to last and made with purpose.

Our Story
You may ask yourself, “Who is this Dirt Farmer?”
And you may ask yourself, “Well, how did I get here?”
I'm Sepp Helgeson, founder and manager of Dirt Farmer Industries, LLC. Founded in 2022, DFI is the product of years of hobbies, interests, and passion projects colliding into something tangible. This business is deeply personal to me—an absurd and wonderful endeavor that I'm beyond proud of and grateful for. I'm not entirely sure where this road will lead, but I believe that life is an ever-unfolding adventure. Buy the ticket, take the ride.
Dirt Farmer Industries specializes in 3D printing, CAD design, and laser engraving, offering both services and unique products. You might also find an unexpected mix of locally-farmed goods on our trade show tables because, well, why not? It’s an avant-garde business because we embrace all sorts of weird and wonderful. And if you’re here, chances are you’re a little weird and wonderful too.
DFI grew out of my need to stay busy. After years of struggling with depression and alcohol abuse, I found that keeping my hands—and mind—occupied with creative work is the best medicine. Channeling that energy into a business seemed like the next logical step.
Like many great ideas, this one started with Ghostbusters. During the pandemic, I got into 3D printing, beginning with a proton pack from the 1984 film (a childhood favorite). That journey led me to Ghostbusters, Virginia, a nonprofit that uses fandom for good. The “Dirt Farmer” moniker? That’s an homage to the franchise.
Another big piece of DFI came from my time working at a local axe throwing venue in 2021-2022. That community introduced me to some incredible people (and some even better business ideas). In 2022, I moved to a small farmhouse just north of Roxboro, NC, and the rest is history.
When I’m not working (which is rare), you’ll find me gardening, collecting vinyl records, attending fan events, waxing philosophic, tending to my spiritual life and, well… probably working some more.
Through it all, I’m joined by my unpaid but highly appreciated partner, Becca. She’s the creative force behind some of our most whimsical designs, the heart of DFI, and the one who reminds me to stop and eat once in a while.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you. Your support—whether as a customer, a friend, or just someone taking the time to read this—means the world to me. You keep the lights on, in more ways than you know.
